Home management Tips for moms

Are you a stay at home mom struggling to keep your household running smoothly? If so, you’re not alone. Many moms find themselves feeling frazzled and overwhelmed when it comes to managing their homes.

But there are some strategies that can help make home management a bit easier. In this blog post, we’ll share some tips for staying on top of things as a stay at home mom. By implementing these simple strategies, you can take some of the stress out of managing your household.

Have a Weekly Planning Time

Setting aside a specific time in your schedule each week for planning for the upcoming week will save you so much time, and it is an essential piece of managing your home well.

I like to have my weekly planning at the same time each week when my husband is home with the children and I can pull away with a cup of coffee and focus on the week ahead and all that I need to accomplish.

Establish a daily routine

Establishing a daily routine and sticking to it as much as possible is a great way to feel more in control of your time and can have a positive impact on productivity. A mom’s time-blocking strategy is one way you can stay on top of your tasks.

Setting up time blocks for activities such as responding to emails, going for a walk, or completing specific work assignments makes it easier to stay organized and on task throughout the day.

When creating the time blocks, be realistic about how much time you usually need for an activity and build in some buffer time too if needed. Establishing a daily routine might require some trial and error, but with mindfulness and dedication it’s certainly attainable.

Wake Up Early to Start Your Day

Waking up early has a whole host of benefits that can set you on the right path for success. Not only will getting an early start let you begin your day with a focused and productive mindset, but it also allows for extra time to enjoy a mindful morning routine.

An early start can set the tone for an organized day filled with accomplishments and achievements, rather than feeling rushed throughout your afternoon and beyond. While it may not be easy to break from the comfort of staying in bed longer, try a few small changes to start getting up earlier like adjusting your alarm or preparing for the following day before going to sleep.

You might just find that waking up early is the key ingredient when it comes to having success throughout your day.

Delegate Tasks and Assign Chores to Children

Delegating tasks among family members is one of the best ways to lighten your load and make every day run more smoothly. Assigning simple duties that fit each person’s abilities and age appropriate chores can take a huge burden off of parents who are feeling overwhelmed.

Maybe grandma can help out with grocery shopping, dad can head up the yard work, and mom can be in charge of meal planning. Letting everyone know what is expected and assigning realistic deadlines will help keep everyone on track and organized. Plus it is a great way to show children that everyone contributes something when it comes to what needs to be done around the house!

MAke Decluttering a daily task

It is difficult to manage any home where there is just too much stuff! Cleaning is difficult and being organized is nearly impossible when you are constantly shifting around piles of clutter. If you make decluttering a daily task, you will thank youself!

use online grocery shopping and delivery services

With such busy lives, taking advantage of online grocery shopping and delivery services can make preparing meals for the week a breeze. It’s convenient, time-saving, and in many cases cheaper than what you might find at your local supermarket.

Plus, you can order everything you need in the comfort of your own home without having to worry about long lines or store closing times. All you need to do is make a list, pick out the items online, clip some virtual coupons if available, pay with your preferred payment method, and wait for your delivery.

You might even consider meal delivery services if you are really busy in the evenings. Some of my favorite meal and food delivery services are:

Create a Weekly Menu Plan

Having a plan for what you will cook for dinner each night will impact several areas of your home management.

If you have a menu plan, you will save time in the evenings that you would spend standing in front of the pantry wondering what you will cook. It will also save you a ton of money by helping you stop eating out!

create a budget and stick to it

Creating a budget and sticking to it isn’t always the most exciting way to spend your time, it is essential, especially if you have quit your job to be a stay at home mom. It will also leave you feeling much more relieved knowing that you don’t have money slipping through the cracks.

Think of it like paying yourself first – figure out your expenses, know what’s coming in and out, then allocate what you can for fun! Once you’ve done this, come up with achievable limits within your spending categories so that you don’t get overzealous.

Make sure to review your budget every month to check where things stand: if everything is under control and going according to plan, great! But if things are getting off track, don’t be too hard on yourself – just make adjustments for the following month.

Create a Laundry rountine

Having a laundry organization routine that works for you will keep you from digging through the laundry piles looking for something to wear, and it will also keep you from spending your whole weekend catching up the mountain of laundry that has piled up during the week.

I recommend a daily approach to laundry, especially if you have a larger family. With lots of people, the laundry can get out of control quickly.

Make Time for Self Care

One of the best pieces of advice I’ve ever received is to make time for myself every day, even if it’s only fifteen minutes. It doesn’t matter how busy you are, or how many demands are being placed on your time – if you don’t take care of yourself, you won’t be able to take care of anything or anyone else.

Just setting aside 15 minutes each day for some self-care for a mom can make a world of difference. Whether it’s reading a good book, taking a relaxing bath, going for a walk in nature, or simply sitting down with a cup of tea and enjoying the quiet, making time for yourself is essential to maintaining your mental and emotional health.

Implementing even just a few of these tips can help to make your days run more smoothly so you can feel less stressed and more in control. Give yourself a pat on the back for making it through 2020 and commit to doing what you can to reduce stress in 2021. Do you have any other tips for reducing stress that you swear by?
