How to choose the best slow cooker

Choosing the best slow cooker for your family size, with the right accessories, functions, and even the brand will be very important. The best slow cookers for large families are not always the best for a couple or even a smaller family.

The basic ingredients included in most crack chicken recipes are the same. All of the ingredients listed below are amazon links for your convenience. You can put everything you need to make this meal, including a crock pot, in a cart and have it all delivered to your door. The basic ingredients are:

Why is it called Crack Chicken?

As you can tell from the ingredients listed above, this is a heavy, comfort food meal that tastes absolutely delicious. Some might even say it is addictive, thus the name. I know my family loves this recipe, even those who are not on a strict keto diet, and they request it at least once each week.

How do you make crock pot crack chicken?

Start by spraying a large (seven to ten quart) slow cooker with cooking spray and covering the bottom of the slow cooker with an even layer of raw boneless skinless chicken breasts that have been trimmed of the extra fat.

Can you put raw chicken in a slow cooker?

I am regularly asked if it is okay to put raw chicken in a crock pot or slow cooker. The answer is yes. You can find all the details about how to cook chicken in a crock pot here. I love using my crockpot for cooking chicken. No matter the kind of chicken, it always comes out moist and fall off the bone tender! For chicken other than boneless skinless breasts, you can find slow cooker cooking instructions here:

What spices are best for crack chicken?

The basic seasoning for any crack chicken recipe is ranch dressing mix. You can get the dressing mix in pouches in the salad dressing aisle of your local grocery store or sometimes you can find bottles of ranch seasoning in the spices aisle. I prefer the Hidden Valley Ranch brand. In addition to the ranch seasoning, you could add some black pepper and lemon juice to create an interesting flavor for your chicken.

What kind of cream cheese do you use for crockpot crack chicken?

After covering your chicken in your seasoning, you will then want to top the chicken with cream cheese. It doesn’t really matter what brand of cream cheese you use for this recipe, but the full fat variety is best. It makes a creamy, delicious recipe that feels just like comfort food. The full fat cream cheese is also best for those who are eating a keto diet plan.

How do you prepare the cream cheese?

You are welcome to cut the cream cheese into cubes, but that is not at all necessary. I typically just lay the cream cheese in whole blocks on top of my seasoned chicken breasts. You will be stirring it into the shredded chicken at the end anyway, so it doesn’t really matter how you add it to the slow cooker.
