Do you use real pumpkin in pumpkin spice overnight oats?
To make these pumpkin spice overnight oats, you will need to use pure pumpkin puree. Do not use pumpkin pie filling.
How do you make Pumpkin Spice Overnight Protein Oats?
This is a simple recipe that takes only a few ingredients and a few minutes to prepare. Here are the basic ingredients:
Ingredients
Specialty Tools Needed for Overnight Oats
To make overnight protein oats, you will need some basic kitchen tools, but in addition, you will also need small half pint canning jars, canning jar lids, and a wide mouth funnel made for filling the canning jars.
Overnight Protein Oats Preparation
In a medium bowl, combine all of your dry ingredients (oats, protein powder, pumpkin spice). Then stir in the canned pumpkin puree and mix well. Next stir in the Greek Yogurt and almond milk, then whisk everything together until well combined. Once your mixture is well combined, divide it evenly into your canning jars and seal the lids securely.
What kind of oats do I use for overnight oats?
For the best results with overnight oats, you will want to use old fashioned rolled oats. You can use quick oats if that is all you have on hand, but they will not hold together in the wet mixture and your oats may have a pudding like texture when served.
What size canning jars do I use for overnight protein oats?
For individual servings of overnight protein oats you will use a six or eight ounce jelly sized canning jar. However, if you know you will be feeding a crowd, its is perfectly fine to use a full traditional 32 ounce sized jar. The important thing to remember is, no matter the size jar you select, be sure to get the wide mouth variety for easy filling.
What is the best liquid for overnight oats?
For healthy overnight oats, I prefer to use vanilla flavored almond milk for the texture it provides, its low calories, and for the added protein. However, you could also use any other type of milk you prefer such as oat milk or coconut milk. You might want to experiment with small batches until you discover how your chosen milk will change the texture of your oats.

Do you add toppings before or after overnight oats?
If you want to add additional toppings to your overnight oats, you should do that when you are ready to serve them. Toppings added before refrigerating will breakdown or become soggy.
What toppings should I add to Pumpkin Spice Overnight Protein Oats?
The sky is the limit with overnight oat toppings. Some of my favorites are:
- Nuts
- Chocolate chips
- Berries
- Coconut
- Brown Sugar
How do I serve Overnight Protein Oats?
I love overnight oats because they are a super healthy breakfast for kids. They are also an easy breakfast for kids to serve themselves. Overnight protein oats can be served cold or hot. If you prep them in the smaller jelly jars, each child can grab a jar from the fridge and eat straight from the jar.
You can also transfer the oats to bowls and warm them in the microwave. Overnight oats can be warmed in the jar, but you should watch carefully as they will overflow as they get hot and make a huge mess in your microwave.
How long do protein overnight oats last in the fridge?
Overnight protein oats will last five to seven days in the fridge, maybe even a little longer. However, you should not keep them longer than the expiration dates on the individual ingredients. Make sure to start with clean jars and seal your jars well for best results
Why are my overnight oats slimy?
It’s normal for overnight oats to become slightly slimy due to the starches in the oats releasing in liquid over time. You can avoid an overly slimy texture by using a ratio of 1:1 milk and oats to make it thicker, and by adding other toppings like fruit and nuts also benefits the texture. You can also reduce the risk of slimy oats by using old fashioned rolled oats instead of quick oats.
