April really is a great time to begin the habit of memorizing scripture. It may not be the beginning of a new year, but it is the beginning of a new season. Spring feels fresh. It is a time for spring cleaning. It is also the perfect time to do some mental cleaning as well, and there is no better way to do that than with the “washing of water by the Word.”

April Scripture Memory Verses

The bible verses to memorize for April are all about Spring and the spring rain. The spring rains water the new crops and fuel the new beginnings of this time of year. They teach dependence upon the Lord for the rains that cause the abundance of harvest.

Be glad then, ye children of Zion, and rejoice in the Lord your God: for he hath given you the former rain moderately, and he will cause to come down for you the rain, the former rain, and the latter rain in the first month.

Joel 2:23

Ask ye of the Lord rain in the time of the latter rain; so the Lord shall make bright clouds, and give them showers of rain, to every one grass in the field.

Zechariah 10:1

And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin.  Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these.

Matthew 6:28-29

Then shall we know, if we follow on to know the Lord: his going forth is prepared as the morning; and he shall come unto us as the rain, as the latter and former rain unto the earth.

Hosea 6:3

In the light of the king’s countenance is life; and his favour is as a cloud of the latter rain.

Proverbs 16:15

For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:

Romans 1:20

Why six bible verses to memorize?

Even though there are four weeks each month, I always give you six bible verses with memory cards. I do this for a couple of reasons:

  • You may not feel particularly compelled to memorize a particular verse, so there are a couple of options to trade out.
  • You may find that it only takes you a couple of days to memorize a verse and want some extras for the month with the same theme.
