Let’s face it, keeping a tidy home can be a real struggle for busy moms and women in general. Between juggling a career, kids, and other responsibilities, it’s easy to let cleaning and organizing fall to the wayside.

However, a clean and organized home can do wonders for your mental state and happiness by reducing overall stress for moms.

Yearly Cleaning Schedule

We all want a clean and organized home, but finding time to clean can be a daunting task. The truth is, with busy schedules and unpredictable routines, it’s tough to keep your house clean and in order.

Developing a yearly home cleaning schedule can help you keep your house clean and tidy while also making cleaning less of a hassle. Here is the cleaning schedule that works for me:

January Decluttering

Start the new year off right by decluttering! Take a weekend to go through every drawer, closet, and shelf in your home.

Donate or sell any items that you haven’t used in the past year. Not only will you feel a weight lifted off your shoulders, but your home will be more organized.

February Flooring

Focus on deep cleaning your flooring. Rent a carpet cleaner to deep clean your carpets and mop and wax your hardwood floors.

March Spring Cleaning

Spring cleaning time! Take a few weekends to tackle tasks such as cleaning your windows, washing curtains and blinds, and dusting from top to bottom.

April Outdoor Cleaning

As the weather starts to warm up, it’s time to focus on outdoor cleaning tasks such as:

  • Cleaning gutters
  • Power washing your deck or patio
  • Tidying up your yard

May Kitchen

Prepare for summer by taking the time to deep clean your kitchen. This should include tasks like:

  • cleaning out the fridge
  • scrubbing the oven
  • organizing your pantry

June Bathrooms

Give your bathrooms some love by:

  • Cleaning the grout
  • scrubbing the shower
  • re-caulking the bathtub

July Air Conditioning

As summer heats up, it’s essential to do a thorough cleaning of your air conditioning filters and vents. This will ensure that your unit is working efficiently and keep your home cool.

It is best to change your filters on a monthly basis, but you should call for an annual service and clean the vents inside and out.

August Organizing

It’s time to get organized! Take the time to organize your home office and any other areas that may have become cluttered throughout the year.

September Garage Cleaning

With fall just around the corner, take the time to do a thorough cleaning of your garage. Declutter and donate items you do not need. Reorganize items that may be out of place.

October Upholstery Cleaning

Focus on deep cleaning any upholstery in your home. This includes furniture, curtains, and area rugs.

November Outdoor Winter Prep

Start preparing your home for winter by deep cleaning your home’s exterior. Clean gutters, power wash siding, and check for any areas that may need repairs.

December Refrigerator and Freezer Cleaning

Finish off the year by doing a thorough cleaning of your refrigerator and freezer. This includes defrosting if necessary and wiping down all surfaces.

By following this yearly home cleaning schedule, you can keep your home in tip-top shape year-round without feeling overwhelmed. Tackling one task at a time will help you stay on track and organized. Remember, a clean and organized home leads to a happy and stress-free life!
